The History of Gateway Farm

Early Beginnings 1984 - 1993

Christian Gateways Ministries Farm for Girls
In June of 1985, with three girls, the full time ministry called Christian Gateway Farm for Girls was opened. Obedient to His call, June Barnard Ashworth developed the farm exactly as God revealed its design and program. Over a five year period, three dorms, a school, the craft house, a recreation center and the beautiful chapel were built. Through the years, the lives of hundreds of girls were changed as they came to know the love of God and were trained in His ways. God led many wonderful people to "Miss June," and troubled girls were transformed for God's glory.

Mid Years 1993 - 2002

Holy Highway Farm for Girls
After many years of faithful service, God led Mrs. Ashworth to donate the farm and all it's assets to Mrs. Pam Burton. Pam owned another facility, Holy Highways for girls in Pickton, Texas. During this time, the building program for the farm included the Fash School Building, new offices in the chapel and a food pantry. Through the dedicated service of directors and staff, the farm continued to grow and to lead girls into "holy highways" of the Lord. Many of these girls, now women with their own families, return to the farm and give thanks for all God did for them during their formative years.

2002 - Present

Christian Ambassadors Gateway Farm
October 2, 2002; the farm was donated to Christian Ambassadors, the ministry of Ken and Trudy Bangs.  Gateway Farm is licensed by the State of Texas to provide homes for both boys and girls aged 5 years to 18 years.  God's hand continues to be seen on the farm as He is faithful to His word and the prayers of His people. The original legacy that Mrs. Ashworth established through the call of God continues to be used for His glory.

About Christian Ambassadors
Christian Ambassadors, officially created in 1994, is a multifaceted ministry. In addition to the ministry to children, Ken and Trudy are called to strengthen the body of Christ through teaching and to carry the gospel to the nations. They have ministered together in South Africa, Uganda, Guatemala and Hondorous. Trudy has led teams of intercessors to the Native American people (North Dakota, New Mexico) as well as Ireland, Israel and South Africa. Ken and Trudy believe that prayer is the cornerstone for all of God's work. Christian Ambassadors was founded in prayer and continues to build a local house of prayer at Gateway Farm.

In 1998, they started a ministry to teens in the Collin County Detention Facility. For five years, they visited the youth there to share the love of Christ. Seeing the need for early intervention in children's lives, they prayed for a farm to minister to the needs of youth. Their answer to prayer came in 2002, when they were given Gateway Farm.
Gateway is now the center piece of Christian Ambassadors.  It is here that disadvantaged boys and girls are provided a home, a hope and a future.   In obedience to the commandment of our Lord we do believe in giving to Caesar that which is Caesar's but we also believe in giving to God that which is His.
Our Lord makes it clear that we, the church, should care for widows and orphans and that we should do all we can to bring the little ones to Him.  That is our goal at Gateway.
How About You
You can be part of this ministry.  We need men and women mature in the Lord who are willing to serve as missionary house parents providing training, love and nurturing for these precious ones.   We need those who will volunteer their time to mentor our kids, to work in our office, to help with repair of the buildings and to maintain the grounds and vehicles.  And of course we all ways need the monetary support provided by the Body of Christ.
If the Lord speaks to you to help, please call or contact us through the information provided on this site.
